This 5 days 4 nights holiday features Guyana and Suriname.
Arrival at the airport Cheddi Jaggan Georgetown in Guyana. Meet & greet with your driver and transfer to Hotel Mariott.
After breakfast you will take a flight to the Kaieteur Falls.
Deep within Guyana’s region of the Amazon Forest lies Kaieteur National Park, home to a gargantuan cataract sharing the park’s name. Rivaled by few in the world when taken into account its combined height and the sheer volume of water from the Potaru River flowing over its precipice at any given moment, Kaieteur Falls further distances itself from the crowd of most spectacular waterfalls in the world for its remoteness. Surrounded by pristine rainforest, simply reaching this wonder requires hiring a tour company that will charter a plane in order to even reach a trekking point that accesses the falls.
Overnight at Hotel Mariott.
Transfer to the International airport for flight to Suriname. Upon arrival meet & greet in Paramaribo.
City Tour Paramaribo (3 hours)
You enjoy a guided tour by car and on foot passed the most prominent historic buildings of Paramaribo with their unique architecture. The guide gives information about interesting facts and about among others museum Fort Zeelandia, the Presidential Palace and the Independence Square. You also visit Waterkant (waterfront along the Suriname river) and the Palm Garden. On the way, you see a mosque and a synagogue right next to each other and you visit the typical Surinamese working-class area “Frimangron”.
After the City Tour in the evening get a breath of fresh air on the river at the end of the day, during this 3 hour long relaxing boat trip. You will enjoy the river water’s coolness and an amazing view while you enjoy a refreshing (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) drink with delicious snacks and listen to relaxing music.
We will first try to spot dolphins while we remain on the location for some time. The more curious dolphins usually come very close. If you see their small eyes glistening above the water surface when they move through the water, this probably means that they are in for a play.
We continue our trip to plantation Johan and Margaretha. Depending on the season, you can sit along the river on a wooden bench and get a taste of various delicious local snacks such as crispy baked swamp fish or Hindustani ‘barras’, a hearty snack made with dough and spicy ingredients. You can also enjoy a short walk or just relax and take in the scenery.
After sun down, we continue in the direction of the estuary at the Atlantic Ocean. Meanwhile, the coloured sky and dusky twilight slowly intertwine. As it gets dark, we depart on our way back to the jetty at Leonsberg, in a pleasant ambiance on the boat with lights and relaxing background music.
Dinner in a local Restaurant and overnight at Hotel Torarica.
Peperpot Tour: Peperpot is a plantation at the other side of the Surinam river, not far from Paramaribo. Peperpot is an old coffee- and cacao plantation that has been set up in the beginning of the 19e century and has been managed for a long time by the family Jansen. On the factory complex there are still 2 old plantation houses, a coffee warehouse in 1808, which is currently being refurnished and a coffee and cacao factory. The production continued in 1996. Peperpot is also popular with bird watchers, and if you are lucky, you can encounter squirrel monkeys, capuchin monkeys and sapakaras’ ( giant lizards) on the paths of the plantation.
