Tsowa Island is situated in the Zambezi National Park, a 56 000 ha game reserve which is also a renowned birding hotspot of 400 different species and home to lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, sable and numerous antelope. Zambezi National Park stretches from the Victoria Falls approximately 50 km upstream.
Tsowa Island is 1.8 km long and 400m wide and is dissected by a small river where a pair of Pel’s Fishing Owls reside. The island, which has never been inhabited, is fringed by lush forests while the mainland is riverine woodland with natural spring lines which are hidden gems used by wildlife. This scenically beautiful area is popular for both landscape and wildlife photography. It is a particularly scenic game reserve for guided walking.
Guests are transferred in a closed air-conditioned vehicle (operated by local transfer company – this section of the journey is not included in our rate) from Victoria Falls Airport OR Victoria Falls town to our private entrance to the Zambezi National Park. From there they are transferred in our open game viewer 4×4 vehicle on a sand road to the banks of the Zambezi River (this section of the journey is included in our rat e) where they meet the boat for a short transfer to the island (this section of the journey is included in our rate).

The large airy safari tents are nestled on the edge of the island on the banks of the Zambezi River under the shade of large tree.
Each tent has a small covered veranda set on the river’s edge and looks directly across to the Zambezi National Park on the mainland. Wildlife frequents the water’s edge in the late afternoon and early morning. The en-suite bathrooms have a large indoor shower and a separate outdoor shower.
Stretch Bedouin tents with timber frames and sides on wooden decks situated under massive Jackal berry trees, overlooking the Zambezi River. The area comprises a lounge and dining area for 12 guests.
The bar tent is adjacent to this main living area. The outside deck area, which is also in the cool forest, has a dining area flowing onto a sunken fire pit which overlooks the river. The main area is linked to the pool area which overlooks the river and is situated in a sunny spot.
This modern-day explorer’s tented camp is situated under a cool canopy of magnificent trees of an island forest, a calming welcome after the hustle and bustle of busy Victoria Falls International Airport.
This intimate camp has only 12 guests on safari and is uniquely personable.
